A torrential downpour as the last ball was kicked, weary limbs struggling to pack away, but this years Chetwynd World Cup Festival of Football was for many reasons our most successful to date.

Age groups from Under 7's to youth were full, all games were completed in the proper spirit, excellently refereed and finished on schedule.

Many hands make light work, and this was evident both days as packed car parks were well marshalled, the control tent ran like clockwork and the team in the food tent sold over 1000 drinks and cooked over 1200 burgers, all without food poisoning!

On the pitch we had three Chetwynd sides in Finals at under 9's, 12's and 14's. Congratulations to Dean Burts Chetwynd Vipers. They were managed superbly by Kyle Harvey to their first tournament success in the under 9's age group.

Other highlights over the weekend was the non competitive U7's and 8's sections. 18 teams played great football and were excellently refereed by older Chetwynd players. Luke Edwards, Brad Capener, Todd Howley, Callum Deeming and Ryan Bell.

It was great to see a girls section for the first time this year. Both Helen Starkey's Felines sides played well.

On behalf of Chetwynd AFC, thanks to all the Coaches, Parents, Friends and Players for all their help not just over the weekend but in the weeks before.

Without it our fantastic tournament would not have happened. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Yours in football
